He Is In Control

Every now and then, God is faithful to remind us of a simple truth: He is in control. Through many circumstances throughout our lives, God is working towards helping us build our knowledge of WHO He is as His desire for us is to GROW IN FAITH.

1 Corinthians 5:7 “ For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

This truth (that God is in control) often comes through the following types of circumstances:

1. Protection: He has demonstrated His protection over us, therefore being the one in control. Ex. we are still alive, even though there have been several times harm may have attempted to have its way; seeing calamity, yet not the one involved; perhaps an illness or injury, yet it somehow could’ve been worse—He protected us, because He is in control, because He still has a purpose for us to fulfill!!!!!

Please note that God does not protect us from all suffering, because through those times He still accomplishes His purpose for us by allowing us to know our need for Him. --2 Corinthians 12:10-- He is aware of even the thorns in our flesh.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

He uses all circumstances throughout our lives to mold us and shape us, strengthen us and mature us.

2. Waiting: God has an appointed time for all circumstances and specific timing for His promises to come to pass in our life—because HE IS IN CONTROL!! He’s like the daddy hold his child’s hand in a crowded place and knows exactly where he is going/where He is taking them, yet the child holds on tight because he/she doesn’t have a clue. God proves Himself to us with little things to build our faith and as we grow in faith, we can trust Him more; especially in the waiting time.

b. Psalm 37:9 “But those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.”
c. Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
d. Psalm 25:3 “Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed”
e. Psalm 25: 20-21 “Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You.”
f. Psalm 62:5-8 “My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

Faith (Merriam-Webster dictionary definition): belief and trust in God; complete trust

Fear (Merriam-Webster dictionary definition) : an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger; anxious concern

Faith and fear are like a seesaw; when fear is high, faith is low. When faith is high, fear is low.

Common types of fears:
• Fear of the future
• Fear of man (i.e. rejection, criticism)
• Fear of loss
• Fear of failure/Fear of success
• Fear of the future
